PANAMBI Day Centre & Workshop

People have rights: to be fully integrated into society and to be part of a family, to education, to recreation, to work. Adolescents and young people with disablities have great difficulties in exercising these rights in our country. Some 10% of our population suffers from some kind of disability.

The PANAMBI day centre & workshop is a centre that works with young people and adolescents with learning disabilitities and is the result of a partnership between the local government of Montevideo and the Anglican Church of Uruguay. 25 young people share the experience of learning, developing skills secifically in 3 workshops  - ceramics, leather and basket weaving, without neglecting reading and writing. The weekly spaces for group dialogue are important to help us grow together. Games and music have an important place in our centre.

Many of the young people attend an optional weekly Bible study and also participate in youth activities alongside other young people from the different parishes of the Anglican Church.
